A wart is a common, benign growth caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) infecting the outer layer of skin, most often on the hands and feet. They can resolve on their own but often persist for months or years, which is why many people choose to have them treated.

Common questions
What causes a wart?
Warts are caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV) infecting the outer layer of skin. They are common and usually harmless, though they can be persistent or cosmetically unwelcome.
Is treatment painful?
Most people describe a brief hot pinprick as the base of the wart is treated. Sessions are short, and anaesthetic can be discussed if a larger or more sensitive area is being treated.
Will one session clear the wart completely?
Sometimes, but not always. Because the virus that causes warts can remain in the skin around the treated area, more than one session or a repeat course some weeks later is common. Kim will explain what to expect for your particular wart at consultation.
Can warts come back after treatment?
The treated tissue does not regrow, but because HPV can persist in nearby skin, a wart can recur in the same area, and new warts can appear elsewhere. This is a feature of the virus, not a failure of treatment.
Are all warts suitable for ThermaVein?
Most common warts on the hands and feet are suitable. Kim assesses every wart before treating it, and will advise if a different approach is more appropriate, for example for a wart on a sensitive area or one with an unusual appearance.
Is treatment available in Marbella?
