ThermaVein · By condition
Skin lesion removal
Thermocoagulation treatment for benign vascular skin lesions that have already been identified as harmless, assessed and carried out by Kim Armstrong, Registered Nurse and Independent Prescriber, using ThermaVein.

The condition
What we mean by skin lesions
"Skin lesion" covers a wide range of marks and growths, most of them harmless. ThermaVein is suited to small, benign, vascular or superficial lesions, such as vascular blemishes, small red or dark spots, and marks made up of clustered surface blood vessels, once they have been assessed and confirmed as suitable.
Important
A lesion that is new, changing in size, shape or colour, bleeding, itching or otherwise of uncertain appearance is not treated on the day. Kim assesses every lesion first and will refer you for a dermatology opinion before anything is treated if there is any doubt at all.
The technology
How ThermaVein treats a lesion
The same probe and the same principle used for thread veins: low energy, delivered precisely, rather than heat spread across an area.
- The probe is placed on the lesion
- An ultra-thin, single-use probe is positioned directly on the skin surface.
- Gentle pressure
- Light pressure from the probe helps target the treatment precisely.
- A regulated microburst of energy
- A brief, low-energy pulse seals the fine vessels feeding the lesion. Many lesions visibly reduce or disappear on contact.
- No bandages, no compression
- You leave with nothing more than the aftercare advice given at the session.

Common questions
Can ThermaVein treat any skin lesion?
No. ThermaVein is only used on benign vascular and superficial lesions that have already been identified as harmless. A lesion that is new, changing, bleeding, itching or of uncertain appearance is never treated on the day. Kim assesses it first and refers you for a dermatology opinion if there is any doubt before anything is treated.
Is treatment painful?
Most people describe a brief hot pinprick at the moment the probe touches the lesion, rather than ongoing pain. Sessions are short and anaesthetic is not usually needed.
How many sessions will I need?
Many small, well-defined lesions are resolved in a single short session. Kim will give you an estimate once she has examined the area at your consultation.
Will the lesion come back?
A lesion that has been fully treated does not return in the same spot. ThermaVein does not prevent new, unrelated lesions from appearing elsewhere.
Is treatment available in Marbella?
ThermaVein is currently provided in London only. Kim's other services remain available in Marbella. Ask at consultation if you are unsure.
