What it is
A fragment of a naturally occurring protein
TB-500 is a synthetic version of a small, active fragment of Thymosin Beta-4, a protein the body produces naturally and which plays a role in how cells move and how tissue heals. Research interest in TB-500 comes largely from laboratory and animal studies looking at wound healing, tissue repair and inflammation.
It has not been through the clinical trial process that UK medicines regulation requires before a substance can be licensed and prescribed for use in people. Products sold as "TB-500" online are typically marketed for research use only, which means they are not regulated, tested or quality-controlled as medicines are.
